Proteinase K

Proteinase K is a non-specific serine protease which remains active in detergents and reagents over a broad pH range (4.0-12.5, optimum pH8.0) and is also stable over the temperature range of 25ºC to 65ºC during use. Proteinase K is useful for protein digestion and contamination removal during nucleic acid purification to prepare RNA and high molecular weight DNA for subsequent reactions. Maintaining consistent storage conditions is essential as temperature fluctuations can affect product stability. For optimal performance, prepare Proteinase K just prior to use.

STORAGE

Lyophilized Proteinase K should be stored at -20ºC for extended periods. Proteinase K solutions are stable for 6 months at 2-8ºC.

QUALITY CONTROL

The quality of Proteinase K is tested on a lot-to-lot basis according to Geneaid's ISO-certified quality management system.

Figure 1.0.5 cm mouse tail samples following incubation at 60ºC for 24 hours. The mouse tail on the left is the control (ddH2O) and the mouse tail on the right was digested in 20 µl of Proteinase K.

Figure 2 .Geneaid lyophilized Proteinase K is stable for at least 3 months when stored at ambient temperatures. DNA was extracted from 200 µl of whole human blood using the gSYNC™ DNA Extraction Kit. Successful DNA extraction confirms the stability of Proteinase K when stored at 4°C and room temperature.
